Information technology degree programs at our campus

GU/MSB-Elk River offers two IT programs to accommodate our students’ needs:

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. In this four-year IT program, a student chooses one of two emphases, receiving concentrated training in the following: network and security, and web application development. This program can be completed in 36 months of year-round study.

Associate in Applied Science in Information Technology. This two-year IT degree program includes studies in  computing fundamentals, including computer programming logic, database, network communications and Windows Client Operating System. Students also choose from elective IT courses in networking, database, security and software development. General education courses provide communication and critical thinking skills. This program can be completed in 18 months of full-time study.

Train for industry certifications

As a student in an information technology degree program at GU/MSB-Elk River, you will be prepared for certifications granted by primary IT industry players, including:

  • Microsoft
  • Cisco
  • CompTIA
  • Oracle 

A nationally-recognized certification indicates to employers that you have attained a level of proficiency in an area of IT and can help you get a job, raise or promotion. The Professional Certification Exam Scholarship defrays the cost for eligible students.

Do you already have industry certifications? GU/MSB may grant you credit for work experience. Our education department will help evaluate your prior training for transfer. Receiving credit for prior education will save you time and money spent on classes and allow you to focus on new skills to advance your career.

Looking for flexible scheduling options?

GU/MSB, we will do everything we can to work around your schedule.  Our IT programs are offered on campus and also through our online college, allowing you to complete all coursework through our sophisticated Internet classroom.  You will be able to attend class a time and location that is best suited for your needs.  You may also choose to enroll in a program full-time or part-time, completing coursework at a pace that works for you.
